Shanshan Li is a Ph.D. candidate in Global Health at Peking University’s School of Public Health, with a minor in Economics from the National School of Development. Her research interests center on health economics, epidemiology, and pharmacoeconomics, with a particular focus on healthcare expenditures, medical insurance policy, and cost-effectiveness analysis of pharmaceuticals. She has conducted extensive studies on topics such as prescription medication utilization and expenditures among patients with diabetes, the impact of medical insurance on healthcare behavior, and pharmacoeconomic evaluations of treatments for chronic diseases including osteoporosis and COVID-19.

Shanshan has actively participated in several national research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, where she contributed to the analysis of urban and rural medical insurance, healthcare provider behavior, and policy impacts on residents’ medical expenses. Her work also extends to poverty alleviation and drug procurement policy analysis, reflecting her commitment to evidence-based health policy and public health improvement.

Her research has resulted in multiple publications in leading journals such as Diabetes Obesity Metabolism, The Journals of Gerontology: Series A, and BMJ Public Health. She has also been recognized for her academic excellence with numerous honors, including the Scholarship for China Health Economics Youth at Peking University, Outstanding Graduate Award from China Pharmaceutical University, and multiple merit scholarships.

Shanshan’s dedication to research is further demonstrated by her international engagement, having presented at major conferences such as the International Health Economics Association (IHEA) and the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR). Her interdisciplinary background and rigorous methodological training enable her to make significant contributions at the intersection of global health, health policy, and economic evaluation.
